One of the things I have found since I have been serving in Children’s Ministry is that kids LOVE to bake! It’s so much fun baking with them! And as much as I know they love to do this at church, I know they love to do this at home, too!

Baking Through the Bible is an at-home family resource that connects the love of baking with stories of the Bible that have to do with food! This family resource includes 5 days of faith activities. Each day centers on a Bible story that involves food and the activities center around that story as well as baking!

Each day features a Bible Story, Color of the Day, Family Devotion, Memory Verse, Bible Story Recipe, Baking Through the Bible Art, Baking Through the Bible Craft, Family Activity, and Recipe of the Day.

For the family devotion, families will gather to read the Scripture first and then the devotion. The devotions re-cap the story and get families thinking about living out their faith.

Each day will have a memory verse that’s taken right out of the Bible story for each day. Kids can hang this sheet on their fridge each day. This resource also has a memory verse for the week: “Taste and see that the Lord is good.” Psalm 34:8a. A simple yet great verse for kids to remember the goodness of the Lord.

The Bible Story Recipe activity each day gets kids to use their creativity! Kids will create a recipe using the Bible story. Each day features a recipe card that they can use to create their Bible story recipes. They will use characters and places as the ingredients and what happens in the story as the directions for the recipe. These will be fun to read!

The art page allows children to draw out the Bible story for the day.

I LOVE the craft activities for each day which include designing aprons, baker’s hats, potholders, utensil holders, and a cookie sheet Bible verse board. These hands-on crafts will be great for families to do together.

The family activity each day comes from ideas found within the Bible story. A fun activity for families!

And the day ends with a recipe! Each day includes a yummy dessert for kids and parents to make together!

For those serving in Children’s Ministry, here is what we did as far as distributing this resource to families…

We made bags for all families that have children 3-years – 5th grade. We printed off each day and stapled them together. We made enough copies of the Art and Bible Story Recipe pages so that each child in a family would have a copy of this. We took large Kraft paper bags and glued the logo of this resource to the front. Inside the bag we placed the copies of each lesson. We also included the main crafts for the project: apron, baker’s hat, potholder, Mason jar, and cookie sheet (I bought the Mason jars and cookie sheets at Walmart and Dollar Tree). I also included one of each of these items for each child in the family.

We then delivered these Baking Through the Bible kits to all children’s homes in our ministry. I am thankful for my team of volunteers who help me deliver these each month!
