I’ve always wanted families to experience Holy Week and not just hear about it. That’s what led me to create the Holy Week Family Kit. It gives you simple, meaningful ways to walk through each day with your kids so they can see, feel, and remember what Jesus did for them.

The Holy Week Family Kit has 8 days of devotions and activities for your family to do. Here are the activities:

Palm Sunday

Families will decorate a palm branch (I included white cardstock palm branches for them to color)

Last Supper

Communion with your family (I included a mini loaf of this No Knead bread for them to use). Or you can use Hawaiian rolls too!

Foot Washing

Family members wash each other’s feet using a bowl of water and towel. In the kit I included a small piece of a towel to use as a reminder of how Jesus served His disciples.

Garden of Gethsemane

Families will write prayers on the olive printable and pray over them during the week.

Peter Denies Jesus

Families will color the rooster coloring page and write their names on the rooster as a reminder that they choose to follow Jesus.

Crucifixion

Families will take a mini wooden cross and drape a piece of black fabric over it to remind them of the sacrifice Jesus made for us.

Somber Saturday

Families will write letters to Jesus on the “Dear Jesus” letterhead. There is also a place for them to draw a picture for Him.

Resurrection

Families will color and decorate the He is Alive printable, cut it out, and string together to make a banner to display in their home.

Praying these kits will help your children focus on Jesus during Holy Week!

Thank you so much for providing this resource for families. I’ve never really done this stuff with my family or celebrated like this for Easter, so I’m looking forward to starting this tradition with my family. God bless!

How did you assemble the kits with all the many pieces? Did you just place everything in the bag? Or were they separated somehow?

Reply
Vanessa Myers April 9, 2025 - 7:18 pm

Hi Christian! I put all the pieces of the kit into a brown Kraft bag with handles. Then I attached the list of items on the outside of the bag and put everything else into it.

I am leading the children’s ministry at the church my husband and I pastor, and I would love to have access to this fantastic resource. We are in search of a part-time children’s minister and live in high cost of living area so finding someone called to ministry among folks that already live in our area is a challenge. In the interim, I have had to jump in to cover things.
Thank you,
Kim

FYI–The Garden of Gethsemane stickers from Oriental Trading have been discontinued.

Does anyone know where we can get comparable stickers@ since these are no longer carried at Oriental Trading?

Love this resource!! Our church used it for Holy Week 2020. We created the kits and delivered to each family and it was a perfect way to to connect with the families even though we couldn’t be together. I’m hoping we’ll do it again this year too!
