Easter baskets are probably a part of your family’s Easter tradition. You give gifts to your children filled with lots of fun toys, games, and candy! But have you ever thought of giving your children a basket filled with items that point them to Jesus? (See why I’m not a fan of the Easter Bunny). Yes, you would love to, but maybe you have no idea what kind of gifts to give your children that focus on the true meaning of Easter. What do you put in a Christian Easter basket? Let me help you with these Christian Easter basket ideas for kids!

Bibles

One thing I wish I had as a kid was a children’s Bible. I had Bibles at home, but I didn’t have one that was focused on helping kids learn the Bible. Children’s Bibles give cool facts and activities to do all throughout the Bible. Here are some of my favorite Bibles for kids:

Devotionals

I love devotionals for kids (and I love writing them, too)! When I recommend devotionals for children and families, I want them to be focused on one thing…the Word of God. I want kids to learn God’s Word in fun and exciting ways so that His Word will stick to them. Here are some of my favorite devotionals:

Breakfast with Jesus: 100 Devotions for Kids About the Life of Jesus

My first devotional for kids is written straight from the 4 Gospels and is all about the life of Jesus! There are also some breakfast recipes sprinkled throughout the book!

The Bible Food Truck: Serving Up 75 Devotions for Kids About Food in the Bible

My newest children’s devotional is super fun as it teaches kids about different Bible stories related to food! And they can create their own ministry food truck all throughout the book!

Fruit Full: 100 Family Experiences for Growing in the Fruit of the Spirit

This book by Christie Thomas at Little Shoots, Deep Roots, dives into the Fruits of the Spirit with devotions and weekly activities for familes.

The Family Cookbook Devotional

If your kids love to help you cook, this is a fun devotional for kids! Amber Pike combines recipes and stories from the Bible for a great activity for families!

Mini Moments with God

150 short devotions for families in a tin! Just draw out a card and read each day. I found this at a boutique store near me, but you can also find it at Christian Book.

Plush Lamb

As I like to say…it’s not about the bunny, it’s about the Lamb! This stuffed animal is a great way to open up a conversation about Jesus being the Lamb of God and how He was our sacrifice and died for us. I found a large plush lamb (24″) inside Target, but I could not find it online to share the link with you. But they have these cute 12″ plush lambs online at Target.

Cross Pop-Its

Most kids these days love Pop-Its! And they come in cross shapes! Grab these on Amazon!

Praise Music

Give your kids music that helps them praise the Lord! Here are some of my favorite music DVDs and CDs for kids:

Listener Kids

They have 4 volumes of music for kids and they are great! Geared more to preschool and early elementary kids.

Yancy’s Little Praise Party

Yancy is a very talented Christian singer/songwriter for kids. She has many albums, but this is probably my favorite.

Games

So You Think You Know the Bible

If your child loves trivia games, test their knowledge with this Bible trivia game!

Scattergories: Bible Edition

If you love the regular version of Scattergories, your family will love the challenge of thinking of Bible people, places, and things that begin with the letter that you roll.

Bible Memory Game

Bible Games Central has fun Bible-based board games. This Bible Memory game is probably my favorite of all of them.

Jesus Nesting Doll

This is a great teaching tool! Each Jesus helps tell the story of Jesus’ life. I keep this in my church office and kids of all ages love to come in and play with it!

Play-Doh

Every kid loves Play-Doh (and every parent probably can’t stand it!). You can use Play-Doh to help teach kids about the Easter story. Grab this free printable from KMC Ministries that helps you use Play-Doh with preschoolers and teach them about the Easter story.

Bubbles

And every kid loves bubbles, too! Especially preschoolers! You can use bubbles to show how Jesus’ death on the cross helped erase (or pop) all our sins. When we seek forgivenss of our sins, Jesus forgives us! And He does that because of His death and resurrection. Let your child blow bubbles and then pop them. As they pop them, kids can praise God for what He has done for us by naming things they are thankful for or ask for forgiveness of a sin.

Candy

You gotta give your child some candy in their Easter basket. I give a variety of candy, but I always give my own kids a large chocolate cross!
